Coaching roles are unique, depending on the different objectives a client may have.
A life coach excels at identifying where you are in life, where you want to go, and how to get there.
A wellness coach, on the other hand, offers a more holistic approach related to your overall wellbeing.
If you have challenges in your life, if you are stuck, if you need help becoming all that you can be, it involves more than work or getting in shape! That's where a wellness coach comes in!
Janise comes to wellness & life coaching with a lifetime of experience that includes being a successful business owner, a manager, an employee, an author, a TV personality, a board member, an avid volunteer, and a wife and a mom. She has also gone through some challenges & major changes in her life including divorce, being a single mom, being laid off from jobs, and moving many times.
I grew up in a family that was in the public eye as a pastor's kid. We moved ... a lot. New houses, new schools, new people. Some more accepting than others. I learned how to adapt and make friends in all of these new situations. I learned how to embrace change and how to be resilient.
At the age of 42, my life changed drastically when my husband left me with two small children, ages 3 and 7. As a single mom, I struggled. I got laid off several times during various recessions in Calgary. Some of these changes I weathered well. Some, not so much. I had to file for bankruptcy as a single mom when a new job didn't materialize. I have worked for some truly horrible bosses. I was stalked and lived in fear for months. I had a very successful business that included TV appearances, radio interviews, features in the Calgary Herald, and even a TV show! I have moved so many times I have lost count. I recently re-married and moved cities and had to adjust to a different community, make new friends, and create a new "tribe". I have experienced success and tremendous failure. I've made mistakes I regret. I have not had an easy, breezy life. I'm sure you haven't either!
Then, at age 58, I found myself unemployed ... again. It was time to do another life assessment. When I reviewed my list of passions, I realized I wanted to empower others and help them find them wellness in all areas of their lives. In a late-night "aha moment", I decided to become a "Life & Wellness Coach. I am currently working on my Life Coaching certification through Life University.
